The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) offers admission to Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Development(PGDRD) in both January and July academic cycles.It is a continuing education programme which has been developed by the School of Continuing Education (SOCE). Programme Objective

The main aim behind the introduction of PGDRD discipline in the university curriculum is to enrich the learners with the comprehensive knowledge of socio-economic factors that leads to transformation of rural society. The contents of the various courses includes in the programme has been developed in such as way that it provides an integrated understanding to learners about the crucial dimensions of rural development and it also makes easier for the learner to understand the necessary basic concepts and skill required to put the geoinformatics for practical use.

After completing this programme, the learners should have acquired necessary skills required for planning, formulation, monitoring and evaluation of rural development projects.After completing IGNOU PGDRD, if any student is interested in pursuing Master degree in Rural Development (MARD), then he or she will be entitled for credit transfer except RDD5.

Fee Structure

The students need to pay a one time fee charges of Rs.2,400/- for complete programme.

Duration of Programme

The students has the minimum duration of one year and maximum duration to 4 years to complete this certificate programme. If not completed on time, the students has to take re-admission and submit the fees again.
