The Indira Gandhi National Open University has been expected to publish the IGNOU Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing admission notification on its official website for January 2019 session in the month of July 2018.

The IGNOU OPENNET VIII entrance examination will be expected to be conducted in the months of September /October 2018 to shortlist candidates for admission in this programme.

The eligible candidates who are interested to take admission in post basic b.sc. nursing January 2018session need to apply for the OPENNET VIII entrance test by filling up application form via offline mode at nearest IGNOU regional centre.

About IGNOU Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing Programme

The IGNOU offers admission to its Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing (BSCN(PB)) programme every year during the January academic cycle. The admission to this discipline is purely on the basis of merit obtained in the OPENNET Entrance examination which is conducted by university every year in the month of August mostly on Sunday.

After declaration of OPENNET entrance exam result, the university short list the candidates for counselling sessions to allot seats to them. The counselling may be conducted as 1st, 2nd or 3rd depending upon the students attendance during the process. The students who appear in the counselling has been allotted seats on basis of rank obtained in the entrance examination.

Programme Objective

The main objective behind the introduction of this discipline is to provide an educational opportunity to a large segment of in-service nurse to enhance their knowledge and skills so that they can respond to the challenging health needs of the society.

Also, the demand for high qualified and trained nurses has been increasing and it can be fulfilled via this programme. After completing the degree, they will be able to provide quality care in the hospitals or clinics. IGNOU Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing Programme Details

Eligibility Criteria

The In-service Nurses i.e registered nurses and registered midwives (RNRM) having 10+2 with 3 years Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) with minimum of 2 years experience in the profession. (For males nurses who have not done midwifery in the GNM programme should have a certificate in any of the nursing courses of 6-9 month duration prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council in lieu of midwifery)   OR

In-service Nurses (RNRM) having 10th class (Matriculation) or its equivalent with three year Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) with minimum of five years experience in the profession.(For male nurses who have not done midwifery in the GNM programme should have a certificate in any of the nursing courses of 6-9 month duration prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council in lieu of midwifery).

Duration of Programme

The students has the minimum duration of 3 years and maximum duration to 5 years to complete this certificate programme. If not completed on time, the students has to take re-admission and submit the fees again.

Fee Structure

The students need to pay the fee charges of Rs.45,000/- which has to be paid @Rs 15,000/- per annum. Please confirm the fees with the nearest regional centre as it may change with the course of time.

IGNOU Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing Admission Procedure

The eligible candidates who are interested in taking admission will be able to download IGNOU OPENNET VIII application form and IGNOU Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing prospectus from the university website or they can obtain it from the nearest university Regional Centre by paying a fee of amount Rs. 1000/- as cash.

The university provides an another option to the candidates obtain the prospectus i.e via Registered Post. They can order the prospectus by paying the fee of Rs.1050/- in the form of Demand Draft. They need to made the Demand Draft in the favour of IGNOU, New Delhi and send it to Registrar (Student Registration Division), Indira Gandhi National Open University, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi-68. Don’t forget to write your full name and address at the back of Demand Draft.
