The Indira Gandhi National Open University offers admission to its MCA distance programme in both January and July academic cycles.There is no entrance test conducted for IGNOU MCA admission 2019 in January and July session. It is a three year master degree programme which should be completed within a maximum duration of six years. It has been developed by School of Computer and Information Sciences (SOCIS), IGNOU.
The reason behind the introduction of Masters of Computers Application in IGNOU is to prepare the students for their bright future in the field of software as well as hardware industry as their working career. It provides an environment in research in core as well as the emerging areas in various fields.

The objective of MCA is to provide the through as well as practical knowledge of the course to the students which includes the application of software technology to solve the mathematical,computing, communications / networking and commercial problems.
It has been designed with a semester system approach which includes the two semesters in a year.The IGNOU MCA first Year courses has been designed with aim to develop the skills among the students related to the computer using various techniques. The main focus of second year core courses is to provide conceptual framework.The Third year focuses more on the specialization and project work as main courses.
Important Note: On successful completion of first year courses (36 credits), the students will be awarded with Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA) and they may leave the programme if desires.

IGNOU MCA Programme Details
The details about the MCA programme are mentioned below :
Medium of Instruction
The learner should be having any Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 (three) year duration from a recognized University and they should be having studied Mathematics as one of the subject at 10+2 level or graduation level. In Case, if the student is from non mathematics background, he or she have to pursue and complete the BCS-12 course concurrently with IGNOU MCA.
The students need to pay Rs.64,800/- for complete programme which has to be paid semester wise @Rs.10,800/- per semester. In case of the students who are from Non Mathematics background need to pay Rs.1,200/- extra in the first semester.
Duration of Programme
The university provides a minimum time duration of 3 years and maximum duration of 6 years to complete this master degree programme. If not completed on time, the students has to take re-admission and submit the fees again.
