The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) offers admission to Master of Arts in Economics (MEC) in both January and July academic cycles. The discipline has been developed by the School of Social Sciences (SOSS), IGNOU.

IGNOU MA Economics Programme Details
The details about the Master of Arts in Economics (MEC) programme are mentioned below :
Medium of Instruction
This programme is available in English and Hindi medium and students has been permitted to write their examinations in both the languages.
The learner should be having Bachelor’s Degree or a higher degree from a recognized University as his or her basic qualification.
The students need to pay Rs. 14,400/- for complete programme which has to be paid year wise @Rs. 7,200/- per year.
Duration of Programme
The university provides a minimum time duration of 2 years and maximum duration of 5 years to complete this master degree programme.If not completed on time, the students has to take re-admission and submit the fees again.
IGNOU MEC Syllabus & Courses
The learner has to complete 66 credits which consists of total of 11 Courses where nine courses are compulsory and two are optional to obtain the master degree in Economics. All the first year courses are compulsory whereas for the second year, the first four courses mentioned in the table below (MEC6,7,8

IGNOU MA Economics Term-End Examination
IGNOU MEC Term End examinations are conducted twice in a year i.e in June and December. The student who will take admission to master degree programme in Economics for July cycle can appear in next year June term end examination whereas the students who will take admission in January academic cycle can appear in December examinations for the same year.
If the student who will appear in June MEC examinations fail to pass in any course, can fill the examination form for that particular course in next December examination. Same is the Case for December examination as well. The TEE constitutes the major part of evaluation system as it carries 70% weightage in the Final result.
IGNOU MA Economics Assignments 2018
