IGNOU MA Philosophy Admission 2020 – The Indira Gandhi National Open University offers admission to Master of Arts in Philosophy in both January and July academic cycles.
This discipline has been developed by the School of Inter-disciplinary & Trans-disciplinary Studies (SOITS), IGNOU. The students can apply for IGNOU MA Philosophy admission through university walk-in admission scheme.
Programme Objective
This distance learning programme has been not only developed with an approach to provide the career opportunity to the students but also to train their mind for better logical thinking, mental discipline, ability for analysis and synthesis, critical reflection on social and political realities.
Reading the philosophy courses will broaden the learner’s vision towards the society, nation or world. Medium of Instruction
This programme is available only in English medium but students has been permitted to write their examinations in Hindi.
Admission Eligibility
The learner should be having Bachelor’s Degree or a higher degree from a recognized University as his or her basic qualification.
Fee Structure
The students need to pay Rs. 10,800/- for complete programme which has to be paid year wise @Rs. 5,400/- per year.
Duration of Programme
The university provides a minimum time duration of 2 years and maximum duration of 5 years to complete this master degree programme. If not completed on time, the students has to take re-admission and submit the fees again.

IGNOU MA Philosophy Syllabus & Courses
The learner has to complete 64 credits to obtain the master degree in Philosophy.It consists of following major components i.e. Compulsory Courses and Elective Courses.The learner has to choose six elective in the first year as well as in the second year too. In both the years, the one compulsory course of 8 credits need to be completed.
